Our traditional clapboard (wood-shingled) house, sitting on Sharon Mountain, was built in 1794 and completely renovated in so that it now is an old house with original walls and beams and completely modern workings. It is beautiful in every season, with a heated pool and a gazebo in the summer, the famous New England autumn with fall foliage, skiing in the winter, trout fishing and rafting on the nearby Housatonic River, the Appalachian Trail nearby for hiking any time, and antique stores everywhere. The house sits high above expansive lawn and orchards, looking down on two small ponds and a large marshy pond, and a series of gardens with old stone walls. It looks like a park of its own. Heated bathroom floors and kitchen floor, 2 large televisions with satellite TV, 3 large double bedrooms (one with dressing room) one small double, and one single. Three bathrooms upstairs and a half bath downstairs. It is comfortable and elegant at the same time.
This house, in Sharon, Connecticut, (in the Litchfield Hills) is our weekend home and is two hours north of Manhattan by car. (There is train service from Manhattan but you will still need a car.) Satellite TV, Internet, every convenience.
